Here is Coatings World’s weekly recap of the most-viewed news stories on our site for the week ending August 7, 2026.
Very exciting news up first this week. Shareholders at the general meetings for both Akzo Nobel and Axalta have voted in favor of all resolutions related to the proposed all-share merger with Axalta Coating Systems Ltd. Next, Masco Corporation reported its second quarter 2026 results with net sales reaching $1,992 million. PPG has appointed Justin Epler vice president, Industrial Coatings (IC) Americas. Also, Univar Solutions acquired H.M. Royal, a 101-year-old specialty distributor of rubber, plastics, and adhesive additives. Lastly, PPG celebrated the unveiling of Stella Juva, believed to be the world’s first solar-powered ambulance, developed by Solar Team Eindhoven, a student organization from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands.
